The Pucusana Project

Reinforcement
Classes
Every Saturday, 80-100 students come to receive help in math, science, reading, history, and the English Language. In the mornings till lunch, children in primary school attend, and after the lunch break, we have our secondary school classes. The students genuinely love coming and getting one-on-one help from our teachers. They get to play outside, eat snacks, and can join either Art, Chess, or Theater club. But most importantly, these kids get to have the love of Christ poured into them while advancing in their studies. We have seen students struggling in the public schools excel to the top of their class and even get into university through this program. This is the foundation on which our future school will be built.

On Friday afternoons, our team loads up the van and travels to a different human settlement each week. With a loudspeaker, we call into the impoverished neighborhood, telling children of all ages to come attend the Mobile Library. Averaging 30 children every Friday, our volunteers help them with school work, read them books, and teach them a Bible lesson. Oh, and we must not forget about the games and snack time. For many of these children, this three-hour program is the only help they will receive with their education for the entire week. Many of the children we see are abused and malnourished. We do what we can to help them. The Mobile Library is one of our most influential programs for the community living outside the main city.

Home Church
We started our Home Church in July 2024. At Home Church, people gather for a meal, worship time and a Bible lesson. At our one year anniversary celebration, many members commented on how this church has changed their lives. Dani, a young college student, shared about how much she craves time with God now and cannot go to bed without prayer time. Cesar, a late 20s single dad, spoke about how God is now a top priority in his life and how it has changed how he is raising his twin daughters. Elizeth, 26 years old, spoke about how real the Bible has become for her and how she enjoys reading it on her own at home. While Elizeth spoke, the entire group nodded in agreement, expressing that they had grown in the same way, too. This group is all in for Jesus, and we are so excited to see what great plans God has for the future of our Pucusana church.

From Aug-Dec of each year, we ask the parents of the students in our Reinforcement Classes to attend our Parenting Classes. With the help of our partner ministry, OneFamily, we are able to provide an incredible, proven, Christian parenting curriculum. This is a three month program rooted in Christian values and teaches on basic parenting topics like, toddler discipline, words of life, screen time, families dynamics and also addresses serious topics like broken homes and generational sin. We have seen these classes generate great conversations and help many parents gain the tools they needed to raise their children in the healthy ways of God.
